The Father Browne S.J. Collection
This consists of 41,500 monochrome photographs covering the period 1895-1955.
The most significant early part of this is the Titanic Section, which
is the most important record of the Titanic's only voyage. There is a
small group of pictures relating to the First World War and Fr. Browne's
subsequent posting in Germany in 1919. The Australian section covers the
years 1922-24 and is a record of a cross section of life in Australia
during those pioneering years. The remaining section is mainly concentrated
on Irish People and their way of life between 1925 and 1955. With smaller
sections covering England with existing inclusions from Suez, Ceylon and
Gibraltar. Modes of Transport are well represented
